On the morning of March 11, accompanied by the low rumble of diesel engines, a fleet of Zhongtong buses lined up to leave the factory, heading to the port to be delivered to customers in Africa. The prominent "20000" on the windshield of the first bus marks it as the 20,000th exported bus since Zhongtong began its overseas marketing operations in 2004.
Firing the first shot of exports in the new year
"This is another milestone for Zhongtong Bus in deepening its global market presence, a reward for Zhongtong's relentless efforts, and the best interpretation of Zhongtong's internationalization process," said Sun Qingmin, General Manager of Zhongtong Bus, at the launch ceremony. After the completion of this order delivery, Zhongtong's market share in overseas markets will rise again, from 10% in 2011 to about 20%.
After Zhongtong Bus established a secondary entrepreneurial development plan centered on "optimizing structure, improving quality and efficiency, and achieving sustainable growth with quality," overseas market operations and the new energy bus sector have become important strategic pivots for Zhongtong Bus. Overseas market operations have always accounted for more than 25% of the overall business. In 2014, in the tenth year of Zhongtong's overseas market operations, the export of 2,186 school buses to Saudi Arabia set new records in the bus industry, including the largest batch of school bus export orders in China, the first order of Chinese buses exported to Saudi Arabia, the largest batch export order of Chinese buses, and the shortest delivery time record in the Chinese bus industry. The 2,186 school buses were delivered to the customer in one go within 45 days, with an annual export value of $150 million. Last year, Zhongtong Bus made significant breakthroughs in the overseas market focusing on major customers and large projects, with export volume increasing by over 90% year-on-year and export value increasing by 37%, maintaining the industry's leading growth rate.
"Next, Zhongtong Bus will continue to expand its overseas market focusing on 'transformation and leapfrogging,'" said Yu Chunyin, Deputy General Manager of Zhongtong Bus. In terms of the market, Zhongtong Bus will focus on key overseas markets, adhering to a development strategy of "doing what we can and not doing what we cannot," shifting from growth in breadth to growth in key markets. At the same time, it will adjust product and market structures to increase the contribution rate of key markets and key products. In terms of products, based on mature domestic products, targeted improvements will be made according to the specific requirements of overseas market customers to better meet the needs of the overseas market.

Regarding the bus products exported to Africa, according to General Yu, this batch of vehicles is the first batch of vehicles exported in 2015 and consists of high-end vehicles for export to Africa. To adapt to the local operating environment and road conditions, this batch of orders features diverse models, personalization, and various special requirements, and during the production process, the foreign side requested multiple adjustments to the product design scheme. Zhongtong Bus withstood the pressure of delivery and various tests, ultimately completing the production tasks on time and passing inspection.
