In August 1958, Liaoning Industrial Development Bureau allocated 3,000 yuan in building Liaocheng Vehicle Repair Factory.
In August 1960, the enterprise was changed into Liaocheng Technical Worker School.
In September 1962, Liaocheng Vehicle Repair Factory was restored.
In January 1964, Liaocheng Vehicle Repair Factory was renamed Agricultural Machinery Repair Cooperative.
In October 1965, Agricultural Machinery Repair Cooperative was put under the administration of the local road transport bureau and renamed Liaocheng High Commission Road Transport Bureau Vehicle Repair Factory.
In April 1976, the new factory at No. 10, Jianshe East Road was put into use.
In May 1978, the enterprise was divided into Liaocheng Local Road Transport Bureau Bus Factory and Liaocheng Local Road Transport Bureau Vehicle Repair Factory.
In July 1984, the two factories combined into an enterprise of Shandong Liaocheng Bus Factory directly under the provincial department of transportation.
In February 1991, Shandong Liaocheng Bus Factory and Hong Kong Guangyongyu jointly invested in Liaocheng Yongyu Vehicle Repair Co., Ltd., which is Liaocheng’s first Sino-foreign joint venture.
In September 1993, Liaocheng No. 5Transportation Co., Ltd. was merged and Liaocheng Long-distance Transport Co., Ltd. was founded.
In 1994, joined hands with China Road Machinery Vehicle Corporation and Heavy Duty Truck Group to incorporate “Shandong Bus Co., Ltd.” by raising fund from targeted sources.
In May 1995, Zhongtong Property Management Co., Ltd. was founded.
In October 1997, Shandong Liaocheng Bus Factory was restructured into Shandong Liaocheng Bus Industrial Group Co., Ltd.
In April 1998, Shandong Bus Co., Ltd. was renamed Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd.
On November 16, 1998, upon the approval of the provincial department of transportation, Qingdao Engine Works was wholly merged into Shandong Liaocheng Bus Industrial Group Co., Ltd.
In August 1999, Liaocheng Dongyue Light Steel Construction Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was founded and renamed Zhongtong Steel Structure Construction Co., Ltd. in June 2000.
On January 13, 2000, Zhongtong Bus shares appeared on the market in Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
In May 2001, Zhongtong Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. was founded.
In June 2001, Group Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. was incorporated.
In September 2001, Group Special Car Co., Ltd. was incorporated.
On November 16, 2002, Zhongtong Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. under Zhongtong Group and Hong Kong Era Development Co., Ltd. jointly invested in incorporating Zhongtong Era Real Estate Development Co., Ltd.
In 2003, Yanggu Zhongtong Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. was founded.
On May 18, 2003, Liaocheng Bus Industrial Group Co., Ltd. Chassis Production Line started working in Liaocheng Economic Development Zone.
On April 26, 2004, Shandong Liaocheng Bus Industrial Group Co., Ltd. moved to No. 9, Zhonghua North Road, Liaocheng Economic Development Zone.
On June 5, 2004, Xinjiang Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd. was founded.
On June 8, 2006, Shandong Liaocheng Bus Industrial Group Co., Ltd. was renamed Zhongtong Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd.
